Dear Friends & Supporters,
Geoff and I are hopeful that you all are staying safe and healthy during this unprecedented time. Our hearts go out to all of the brave women and men who are on the front lines, both medical professionals and the essential workers who are risking their health and safety daily. We are living in uncertain and somewhat scary times, but are working to shift our perspective and trying to see positive light in the shadows:
The current healthcare crisis we are seeing is also allowing us to be more aware and grateful for our access to world-class hospitals and some of the best medical professionals in the country.
Once we got over the shock of schools being closed, we are now feeling lucky to have this extra time with our kids
Our PlumpJack businesses are facing a challenging time, but we are channeling our entrepreneurial spirit and seeing some success
We know that differing political views exist, but we take comfort that we are coming together and striving for a common goal of stopping the spread of COVID19
We see financial burden and the economic toll that people are experiencing and we are also seeing so many acts of kindness, goodwill and support for those in need.
And, despite our sadness that we are unable to celebrate with dear friends and family for this year’s annual Golf Classic on May 11th, we are feeling immense gratitude for the many years of loyalty and support we have received over the years with more than $5 million raised for Cancer Prevention, Education and Research. We look forward to the day when we can come together, hopefully next year, to celebrate our champions of cancer – our doctors, researchers, survivors and remembering those we have lost.
The 21st Annual Golf Tournament was in full planning mode and we were making great strides in our fundraising efforts and many responded early with their generous contributions and their early sign-ups for golf, the dinner and auction. We are grateful for the commitments and we want you to know that we are prepared to refund those of you who need those funds to be focused elsewhere. For those who are interested in allowing the PlumpJack Foundation to keep the funds, you will receive 501c3 tax deductible receipts for 100% of the donation, as it will be considered a straight donation.
Since we are working from home during the mandatory shelter in place guidelines from the City of San Francisco, the paper work may be several weeks/months away, but we will prioritize it upon our return. Please reach out to me directly with your desires as soon as you are able to.
We are deeply grateful to you all for your continued support each year and we look forward to celebrating life, good health and love when we, hope, to resume the golf tournament in 2021!
Sincerely,
Hilary Newsom & Geoff Callan
