In 1992, Gavin Newsom founded San Francisco’s popular PlumpJack Wines on Fillmore Street on the principle of making wine buying more approachable in a friendly, non-intimidating manner to transform the wine purchasing experience into one of fun and discovery.
Since then, The PlumpJack Group portfolio has expanded to include a diverse collection of hospitality and lifestyle businesses including boutique hotels; award-winning wineries; restaurants and bars; and retail establishments, as well as the PlumpJack Development Company.
1990s
PlumpJack Inn our first hotel, is just steps from the legendary ski lifts of Olympic Valley, USA (formerly Squaw Valley)
1995–Present
Balboa Cafe joined the PlumpJack collection and their Balboa Burger became known as one of the best burgers in San Francisco.

PlumpJack Cafe features a bar and fine dining experience.
1995–Present
PlumpJack Winery the first estate winery in our collection, is located in the Oakville AVA.

PlumpJack Wines Fillmore becomes the first business in the PlumpJack portfolio, in the Cow Hollow of San Francisco

PlumpJack Cafe San Francisco becomes the first restaurant in the neighborhood to offer wines at retail pricing

Matrix Fillmore opens in Cow Hollow’s “Triangle” in San Francisco

PlumpJack Wines & Spirits opens it’s second location in the Noe Valley neighborhood of San Francisco

PlumpJackSport opens in Olympic Valley (formerly Squaw Valley) offering the latest snow and ski fashion and essentials

Carneros Innis taken over by PlumpJack also including The Boon Fly Cafe, FARM, and The Orchard Residences.

Balboa Cafe Mill Valley
(BCMV) joins the portfolio

CADE Estate Winery our second estate winery opens high above the fog line on the dramatic slopes of Howell Mountain.
2009–Present
Odette Estate Winery is the third winery to join the portfolio and is located in the Stags Leap District, Gold LEED Certification.

Forgery Bar opens in San Francisco’s mid-market neighborhood.

VERSO (Adjacent to Forgery Bar) event space opens.

Wildhawk cocktail and martini bar opens in San Francisco’s Mission District.

13th Vineyard opens and is located on the other side of Howell Mountain

Ingleside Inn & Melvyn’s Restaurant in Palm Springs is relaunched by PlumpJack

The PlumpJack Foundation launches to house PlumpJack’s countless philanthropic initiatives to help end childhood poverty and hunger

White Rabbit bar opens in Cow Hollow district of San Francisco to take the place of Matrix Fillmore.

Pop Up Shop by PlumpJackSport opens as a seasonal pop up for two winter season in Cow Hollow neighborhood of San Francisco.

Oso Vineyard is acquired by the PlumpJack Collection of Wineries to provide fruit for Adaptation Wines, CADE Estate Winery and Odette Estate Winery.
